Oma is an academic project based on a business rebrand in the L’Atelier Building on Hastings Street in Vancouver BC. The goal was to establish a new logo and brand identity guidelines as well as some promotional materials and print collateral for use in the administrative side of the business.
Although a fictional restaurant, Oma has a very real place in my heart as it was based on the culture and foods I grew up eating and heritage of many of the people I hold dear. Oma is a German restaurant serving wholesome house-made products and nostalgic recipe’s difficult to find outside of the homes of German immigrant families. Oma is located in the ever-evolving Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood and serves a huge demographic of dual-income couples under 40, a group that have mostly come to Vancouver from other places and may not have access to family regardless of background. Oma is an idea of a welcoming family and home cooked meal within the lens of a cozy date night spot for couples.
I designed the logo and collateral in Illustrator and moved into photoshop to create the mockups for the signage and promotional materials.
